Namibia’s long closed Tsumeb mine is famous for its superb smithsonite specimens, which are often considered the world’s best, occurring in every color variation. This is a specimen of the prized cuprian variety, with a vivid green / blue-green color, and wonderful silky lustre. The smithsonite sits atop a brown matrix. It is an incomplete specimen, making it a comparatively affordable piece, of this highly sought after material from an old collection.
