Hydroxy-Apophyllite
N‘Chwaning II Mine, Kuruman, Kalahari, Northern Cape, South Africa
Miniature
3.2 x 3 x 1.5 cm
Hydroxyapophyllite was once fairly common at the Kalahari Manganese Fields, however, these days finding good undamaged ones is not so easy. This specimen is made up of a singular, pastel peachy orange, and lustrous crystal. The lustre appears pearlescent in some areas, and is quite striking. Overall in great condition, there are a couple of very minor abrasions on the edges of the front face.
